Masud is Professor of Neurology & Cognitive Neuroscience at Oxford University. He holds a Wellcome Trust Principal Research Fellowship and is Professorial Fellow at New College, Oxford. He is Co-Chair of the European Academy of Neurology Scientific Panel on Higher Cortical Functions.
Masud read Physiological Sciences at Oxford (1981-84) before completing his DPhil in Physiology. He went on to a postdoctoral fellowship at MIT, holding a Harkness Fellowship. After completing clinical school at Oxford, he undertook medical training in London. He became a consultant in Neurology at Imperial College London in 2000, simultaneously holding a Wellcome Trust Senior Fellowship (2000-12). From 2005-12 he was at UCL where he was Professor of Clinical Neurology, Head of Dept Brain Repair & Rehabilitation at the Institute of Neurology, Queen Square and Deputy Director of the UCL Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience.
